Leaping tongues of fire, Batman, who are these people? What's with all this laughter and why is there a plate shaped like a fish on the altar?
If you are looking for a formal, highly structured ritual or liturgy or what might come to mind when you hear the words "traditional, mainline church," God bless you in finding one.
If you are looking for a rigid set of guidelines on how to live and worship, we hope you find them.
If you are looking for a church to tell you what to believe, keep looking.
If you are looking for a place that's a little more relaxed; where it's safe to ask tough questions that don't have simple answers; a place where it's safe to wonder and doubt or to simply admit "I don't know," come join us.
We are a loving, welcoming, accepting group of fun-loving people who have learned a number of life's lessons the hard way. But our faith and support of family and friends have sustained us through it all.
We don't always agree on everything. Okay, we almost never totally agree on anything, but we do practice believer's baptism and offer communion every Sunday at an open Table. By agreeing to disagree, we encourage each other to stretch and grow in our faith as we seek to live according to Jesus' example, aware we are in God's presence every moment of every day.
Not to worry, we baptize with water, not tongues of fire. (Although it may feel like God is doing that from time to time!)
And as for the fish on the altar--those are our communion trays, beautifully and lovingly hand-carved that we may serve God by serving each other in accordance with our Gracious Host.
If you are open to allowing God to take you on an adventure of a lifetime, come join us.
And by the way, Robin, look who Jesus chose as followers and friends. They didn't have all the answers either. They didn't always understand, but they chose him back. We're in good company.
